QCC Field Trip

For this trip we went to Queensborough Community College. We had to get to the school by 7:40am but some people were late so we actually left around 8:40am. Once we got there , they had bagels and orange juice for us which was good. There , they introduced themselves and they told us what we would do throughout the trip. It was a nice way to start the trip once we got there.

While we were eating we were told that we were going to get our college ID's and we would have like a presentation for 3D printing. After eating the bagels we went to a classroom with a lot of computers. There, we met Professor Lawrence and who introduced 3D printing to us which is a way to make a lot of different things. We learned what additive manufacture and subtractive manufacture is and he showed us and even made an iPhone case from 3D printing. We also learned that they are using 3D printing in china to build houses in a fast rate which was mind blowing and they're also using it to make parts on planes lighter which saves a lot of fuel. After we finished the lesson we went to get our ID's which was pretty quick and then went to eat our lunch. We got a tour after eating of the parts of the school that we didn't see from one of the students , Jeremiah. He showed us around and told us what each building was for.

After getting a tour of the campus we went to the Holocaust Exhibit which was really nice to see these things and know what was going on back then. Another Professor showed us and explained to us what some of the pictures and objects were about. My favorite part of the trip was when we were in the classroom learning about 3D printing. It was my favorite part because I had no idea what 3D printing was and now I have an idea about it and I even saw it. Also when we were showed the machines that were used to make many different things in different colors. We even got to touch and feel final products that they had made like a toy car, a wrench , a screwdriver and an owl.

Lab 13

For this Lab #13 we had to create a wordle of the teacher we chose to incorporate into our Project
#3. We went to wordle.net to make it and we had to think of as many adjectives that described this teacher and write it in the box. The more we wrote the same word the bigger it would appear on the wordle. After that we changed the color scheme that we wanted or we were able to choose our own colors too. We chose the style of how the text was arranged whether it was vertical or horizontal.
After this we had to upload it to the server as Lab #13 and into our online portfolio. This will be helpful in the future because now I know how to make wordle's and I know where to go for them. If I need to add wordle's to future labs or projects I will know where to go and how to do it. This is what I had to do for this lab and how it will be helpful in the future.

Lab 12

For Lab #12 the task was to make a CSS style sheet and make it affect our other previous labs that we had made. We had to add commands to the style sheet so that it would affect every lab. This changed things like the headings, font size, background color and gave an effect to the heading. This was good to save time if we want the same type of styles in the same pages to save time and be more effective with our work.
This will be helpful my future because I will now be able to use this and get better with CSS. It is a little bit confusing right now but I think as time goes on and I start using it more and more I will get  better with it just like coding. I can use this in future projects because now I can use the same background of font style on more than one page. This will save time while I'm coding it and will be very helpful.

Project 3

For this Project #3 we had to create a homage website to our favorite teacher. We had to create a home page and three other pages that were Fun Facts About them , their biography and a page of how they impacted your life. We had to also make a wordle and have a picture of them in the homepage. We needed to have a page banner on every page and have the background and color scheme be consistent. We also had to use CSS on every page in order to gain experience with it and get better with it.
I chose Dr. Liu because he has impacted my education in a good way by being one of my favorite teachers and one of the best science teachers I have ever had. In this project everything had to be of our own creation and I enjoyed making everything. It felt nice to give thanks to your favorite teacher because people don't really do it especially with a website. I enjoyed this project for those reasons and used many skills that I used in the past to complete this project. I added tables and background colors to the tables so that it would be more legible. I added pictures, page banners and buttons to go to the other pages.
